Time to check if there is more to your snore
HealthEngine and ResApp are now working together to support people who are at risk of obstructive sleep apnoea. ResApp’s medical app, SleepCheck, now integrates with HealthEngine’s booking network of GPs and healthcare providers across Australia.
SleepCheck is the easy to use, mobile app that assesses a person’s risk of obstructive sleep apnoea by analysing breathing and snoring. It requires no accessories or hardware other than the user’s smartphone to make an assessment. The SleepCheck app for iPhone is available to download on the App Store, with Android to follow later this year.
If SleepCheck identifies a person is at risk of obstructive sleep apnoea, the application will direct them to see their doctor. HealthEngine’s integration helps patients find and connect with their healthcare providers through a dedicated landing page. This new addition is great because it supports continuity of care and the connection between people and their GPs.
For a little more background from ResApp about sleep apnoea, it’s a serious medical condition that is often associated with loud snoring. It affects more than 3 in every 10 men and nearly 2 in every 10 women. Sleep apnoea is when air stops flowing to your lungs for ten seconds or longer during sleep creating an ‘apnoea’ event. In severe cases, this can happen more than 30 times per hour. Studies have shown that 80% of people with sleep apnoea are undiagnosed. Untreated, sleep apnoea causes daytime tiredness, reduced productivity at work and an impaired immune system, and has been linked to serious complications such as heart disease, hypertension, stroke and type 2 diabetes.
HealthEngine provides ResApp with access to a trusted and reliable consumer healthcare network. This strengthens the SleepCheck offering by allowing users to immediately progress the treatment journey and book appointments with their GPs through HealthEngine.
